... the other Black experience

WTF! Facebook bans hardcore band Negro Terror for "Hate Speech", doesn't ban their racist harassers

While U.S. Marines are sharing revenge porn and non-consensual pornographic photos of servicewomen for years and years, Facebook has been severely cracking down on pages and accounts belonging to Black and non-black POCs, locking folks out of their account for “hate speech” against white men, which so often includes posts about any type of criticism of racial inequality and those who benefit from it. Hardcore punk band Negro Terror were recently the victims of neo-Nazi harassment which, the band believes, resulted in a temporary suspension of their Facebook page.

Facebook has a recent, but substantial, history of swiftly silencing activists and social justice-minded users who speak out against white supremacy under the guise of enforcing vague “community standards” or in response to trolls who report posts hastily and out of spite. As several writers, specifically DiDi Delgado, have pointed out, it’s not the prevalence or vigor of racist trolls that disappears Black and activist voices, it’s the fact that White Supremacy controls both the checks AND balances that determine who gets to speak. When White folks call the Facebook Police, there's a 98 percent chance that a Non-Black Facebook Policeperson will answer the complaint. And you know how anti-blackness works.

In Negro Terror’s experience, the band reports that Facebook suspended their account for "hate speech" after an influx of neo-Nazis began trolling their posts. Maybe it’s just a coincidence. Or maybe someone over at Facebook saw the words “Negro” and “Terror” and they assumed Black folks were up to no good.

FB is a multi-billion dollar corporation just like the rest of them. Yeah, as long as you're black, pleasant and not causing troubling they're more than happy to use you for their cash. But if you're black and get for real, then they're just another racist huge corporation. People- look at the history of corporations. You'll find Africans at the base, enslaved for their profits. To hell with corporations, start co-ops. Whether you boycott FB or not is up to you. I have at times; at other times can see no alternative. Not yet. Just remember, FB is NOT for power to the people.
