FEATURE: "What About the Grief of Mothers of Slain Daughters?"

Following the fatal shooting of Mike Brown and the concurring events, most are now aware of the failings of the U.S. justice system and its incessant maltreatment of black men. However, this spotlight (in particular the attention of the media) seems to have bypassed black women, countless cases of women murdered by police ignored in media coverage - in case mass media didn't know, …

FEATURE: Being Black and Brown in Britain

What was implicitly imparted to my black brother when he was consistently pulled out of classes or the playground and called into the headmasters office, accused of consuming drugs, selling drugs or stealing phones until his mothers is forced to come in and raise the issue of racism? Black and brown bodies are entering and exiting an educational environment rife with privilege, one which encouraged my maths teacher to laugh at my aspirations of a redbrick…

FEATURE: "Are All Terrorists Muslims? It’s Not Even Close"

“Not all Muslims are terrorists, but all terrorists are Muslims”, a misconception that has been sold to the western population as truth since September 11. Words that were actually uttered on public television by Fox news host Brian Kilmeade. But isn't it time for this lie to end? Following the Charlie Hebdo attack in France and reports of Boko Haram in Nigeria, there is a growing rise in Islamophobia and this has a lot to do with the…

FEATURE: The Fight to Dethrone NYPD Union Boss Pat Lynch, The King of Unaccountability

Patrolmen's Benevolent Association head Pat Lynch has declared war on the citizens of New York. That's not hyperbole. Those are his words. And believe me, I wish I were taking them out of context to make a point. In a recent statement, he announced “The mayor’s hands are literally dripping with our blood because of his words actions and policies and we have, for the first time in a number of years, become a ‘wartime’ police department. We…

FEATURE: FBI say that NAACP bombing was deliberate

Yesterday, in what many are regarding as a hate crime, a bomb exploded outside the NAACP's Colorado Spring chapter office. The FBI have now confirmed that the bombing was  deliberate, and are searching for a balding white male in his 40s who they believe detonated the homemade bomb outside the office before driving off in a white pickup truck.  Although local and national NAACP leaders have been cautious to label this a hate crime, it seems likely that this was a…

However with all generations seeking to play a part in this new…
