Afro-punk hits Northampton for Halloween 10-31-09

The Afro-punk tour bus left Philadelphia and headed four hours north of the map to perform at Pearl Street in Northampton, MA.

Tonight's show landed on Halloween, giving Saul Williams, CX, Tchaka Diallo, and the rest of the gang a chance to dress up in even wackier stage outfits than in any other city. Getting ready on the bus, Saul and his 13-year-old daughter Saturn put on their Halloween attire on the bus-- Saul bought a yellow… Continue

Afro-punk pushes through Philadelphia - 10-30-09

After the Afro-punk crew partied the night away in Chicago, the guys got on the road again and headed to Philadelphia. When the tour bus reached the city, we were blown away by the action packed shopping district where the Theatre of Living Arts was located. People were outside representing the Afro-punk Philly scene in full effect, rocking bright colors, skateboarding down the strip, and enjoying their town.…

And so the Afro-punk crew left the cold city of Toronto and crossed back into the states-- heading to Minneapolis, Minnesota. Trekking 928 miles to our next venue took two whole days of on the road travel, but it also gave the musicians a chance to discuss their own interpretation of what Afro-punk means to them.

"Afro-punk should represent self-expression in every form," Saul… Continue

Right after the Cleveland show, the Afro-punk tour bus hit the road again and crossed the border into Canada. The crew started to get a little tired, but once we hit Toronto at The Opera House, the guys peppered up their step to put on a sold-out show performance.

When we hit The Opera House, the crew hit the ground running-- we only had two hours to set up for the show. Tonight's show… Continue

Afro-punk is off to Cleveland! 10-22-09

It was 3 am and Saul Williams, along with CX, Tchaka, band mates, and Afro-punk production, hopped on a 12-bunked tour bus and headed out to Cleveland, Ohio. Sleeping off the intensity of their New York show, the guys claimed their pads and crawled into their tiny three-floored bunks.
