AFROPUNK

... the other Black experience

Hello fello Afropunk members!  I'm sick and tired of the believe that all Black/Brown and folks of color dance to the same beat (literally).  I have developed a online podcast that addresses this and the next step is to move it to satellite! Or beyond!  Please check us out 2nite at 7pm where u will hear a different discussion along with Afropunk, Funk, Underground Hip Hop, Jazz (basically everything conventional radio or MTV DOESN'T play)...WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT!  introducing AfronerdRadio.com:

Good Afternoon Folks! We're gearing up fo another round of frank podcasting talk courtesy of the new Afronerd featuring Captain Kirk brand. Kick up your heels and listen (or call in live-646-915-9620) at 7pm (ET) this evening as the truthsayers discuss the following subjects: a long overdue discussion regarding the erecting of a mosque near 911's Ground Zero in downtown NYC; the sexual harassment controversy surrounding TV Azteca's Ines Sainz and the NY Jets and lastly, revisiting a common Afronerd Radio theme pertaining to the new minstrels-case in point, rap artist, Waka Flocka (the astrophysicist, above).

Well, you're entitled to your opinion but we do play PLENTY of the afropunk and alt music on the show so I'm confused as to your point.  If no one critiques the OBVIOUS deleterious effect that gangster/commercial music culture has had on POC then who will?  But again, the music IS highlighted on the show and yet straight rock and urban radio is NOT playing the music so you condemn our show for trying to help expose it?  I'm a bit confused by your point.  And why not promote.....the filth is promoted and you want to pretend like so many others that it doesn't matter but I'm trying to promote the converse and you have a problem with me....it's this backward thinking that befuddles me....wow!
Wow, I have to say I'm confused as well. I listen to your show all the time and you always play plenty of afropunk, black rock, urban alternative, etc. -or whatever label anyone wants to throw out- in between the "discourse".  And along with the discussions you speak time and again about the lack of variety on conventional radio.  As for the discussion, while I don't always agree with your political views- I'm very liberal - I like to hear other opinions. If nothing else, it gives me a different perspective to think about even if I don't change my own opinion in the end.  And I would argue that your more conservative point of view is an "outside/alternative" perspective when it comes to POC since we tend lean more liberal as a whole.
Thanx Blu..I suspect that the Dr really hasn't heard the show because out of respect and because I actually LIKE Afropunk music I shout this site and how I would suggest that folks stop by to cop new and the operative word different music from POC.  We can handle criticism we just ask that there be some accuracy to the critique...lol
No problem. Hope to see you at AP fest!

i think that'l lit your garrr.

I approve of this thread!

I'd gladly do a radio show mixing a blend of stuff that is certainly not mainstream urban. ie: metal influenced drum & bass:

Any chance you can move from Blogtalk (which has an AM radio quality stream since it was designed mostly for talk rather than music) to something like Listen2MyRadio.com?

They're also free but have 128k streams and can be heard on iOS players etc.
